Grace

This mountain that I’m climbing is steeper than I imagined.
God tried to warn me, but I didn’t want to listen.
I thought I know better
But my eyes were covered
With a thick sheet of pride
That I finally faltered.
God please forgive me
And save me from my death
As I hang on this cliff
By only just a thread.
Another temptation has just slipped by
I persevered and made it about alive.
Over and over again escaping my death
God-given strength to fight my flesh.
Right before fear takes over me
I remember, God, You’re here to give me peace.
Strength to fight
Endurance to conquer
Given by the One true Father
Thank you, Lord, for everything You’ve done
I realize now that by Your grace is how I won.
